Volunteer: City Chapter President [Austin]
Location: Austin, Texas
Reports to: CoCEO
Commitment: Part-time, Volunteer Leadership Role (approx. 6 to 8 hours per month)
Role Overview:
As City Chapter President, you will serve as the face of Upaya in your city—mobilizing local supporters, building networks, and advancing the mission of fighting poverty through dignified jobs. This is an opportunity for purpose-driven professionals and philanthropists to lead locally while creating global impact.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Community Building
Establish and lead the Upaya City Chapter in your area, fostering a vibrant community of supporters and volunteers.
Convene regular gatherings—networking events, speaker sessions, or small fundraisers—to deepen engagement with Upaya’s mission.
Serve as a local ambassador, representing Upaya at relevant community and philanthropic forums.
Fundraising & Partnerships
Champion fundraising initiatives within your network to support Upaya’s programs and investment funds.
Cultivate relationships with potential donors, corporate partners, and foundations in your city.
Collaborate with Upaya’s U.S. team to host fundraising events and donor meetups.
Advocacy & Awareness
Amplify Upaya’s mission by sharing stories of impact and dignified job creation through your professional and social networks.
Encourage peer-to-peer giving and collective philanthropy that drives sustainable livelihoods.
Advocate for inclusive economic development and social enterprise in local and global conversations.
Coordination & Reporting
Liaise with Upaya’s Development and Communications teams to align chapter activities with national fundraising and brand strategy.
Maintain periodic communication on goals, activities, and impact metrics.
Help identify speakers, collaborators, and media opportunities for regional visibility.
Who You Are:
Passionate about poverty alleviation, social enterprise, and the power of dignified work in India.
A strong networker and community builder with experience in leadership, philanthropy, or business.
Excellent communicator with organizational and interpersonal skills.
Self-motivated, collaborative, and comfortable leading volunteer-driven initiatives.
Prior involvement with networks like Rotary, Pratham or TiE chapters is a plus.
